Girona Vision Research (GVR) has received the support of ACCIÓ Catalonia Trade & Investment from the Generalitat of Catalonia

The development work done on the context of the SIAPE project, acronym for “Sistema d’Intel·ligència Artificial per una Pesca més Eficient i Sostenible” in Catalan, “Artificial Intelligence System for More Efficient and Sustainable Fishing” in English, has been partially funded by ACCIÓ Catalonia Trade & Investment from the Generalitat of Catalonia, under reference ACE088/23/000094. The project ejecution has ranged from 06/06/2023 to 05/06/2026, and has been lead by the Technical Director Dr. Ricard Prados. This work has been developped in collaboration with the agent TECNIO ViCOROB from the UdG as a partner.

The project has been focused on the design and development of a new stereo image acquisition device, as well as the software in charge of the image grabbing and storage, and the artificial intelligence capabilities, intended to detect, classify, size and count the catch passing by the trawl net. The aim has been to improve the management and efficiency of fishing operations, minimizing unnecessary discards, and helping to promote more sustainable and responsibl fishing.
